New Hampshire Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty - or surgery to reshape the nose - is one of the oldest cosmetic surgery procedures on record, having been performed for over 100 years. Movie stars such as Marilyn Monroe are often rumored to have undergone this very popular procedure, perhaps because even a minor "nose job" can have a major impact on facial appearance.

Dr. Jerome Sepic understands that the nose is one of the most predominant features on your face, and when you are unhappy with the size or shape of your nose, it may be difficult to feel good about the appearance of your face. This can have an adverse effect on the way you interact with others, and on your self-image. Dr. Sepic utilizes advanced techniques in rhinoplasty, serving patients from New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine and all of New England.

What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure to re-shape the nose. Through this procedure, Dr. Sepic can make the nose larger or smaller, as well as make adjustments to the length and width of the nose. Sometimes a patient wants significant re-shaping, while often only a subtle adjustment is needed.

Your Rhinoplasty Procedure

The nose is sculpted and re-shaped using either the closed or the open technique, depending on the requirements of your procedure. The closed technique creates your desired contours through incisions inside the nose, leaving no visible scarring. The open technique utilizes a small incision on the underside of the nose, which leaves a very fine scar which fades over time to become almost undetectable. Most rhinoplasty procedures are performed with the patient under general anesthesia or local anesthesia with sedation. Dr. Sepic will be able to help you determine which technique is right for your procedure.

Recovery and Results

Following surgery, your nose will be splinted for approximately a week. The splint serves to hold the nose in place and help it maintain its shape as it heals. Swelling, and bruising in the area are common after rhinoplasty, but these aftereffects will subside relatively quickly. Most post-operative discomfort is due to nasal congestion caused by internal swelling, and most patients report that pain is manageable with either over the counter or prescribed medication.

Over the next 2 to 4 weeks, swelling should subside to reveal a more normal appearance. However, subtle changes in the size and shape of the nose will occur gradually over the course of up to a year.
